The mission of the Moses Lake Business Association is to improve, strengthen
and promote the economic and cultural development and vitality of the downtown core.
ORGANIZATION: Provide leadership and encourage a cooperative spirit to support a well-funded and action-oriented organization.
- Continue monthly newsletter & monthly meetings.
- Maintain website with timely information & publicize activity in newspaper and radio.
- Maintain and expand volunteer databank.
- Conduct corporate sponsor and major property owner one-on-ones.
- Continue partnership with City in downtown improvement; continue to assist progress on city improvements to 3rd Ave. and Sinkiuse Square.
PROMOTION: Promote downtown as the historic, social, cultural, and economic center of the community.
- Develop an identity & develop marketing plan for the downtown area.
- Continued development and improvement of downtown shopping promotions by the downtown merchant committee.
- Partner with MAC to promote local art & history in the downtown area.
- Provide support for "other organizations" downtown events.
DESIGN: Provide a clean, inviting, and safe district that capitalizes on our unique features.
- Form a design standards committee to develop design guidelines.
- Develop a façade renovation and good design publication.
- Continue to support the City’s commitment to Downtown.
- Formally recognize good design projects with Vision 2020.
- Continue partnership with city to revitalize Third Avenue
- Continue to support and work with the City in developing a Town Square at Sinkiuse Square to include public restrooms, gathering space, small stage, water features, landscaping and parking.
- Work with the City to develop a downtown signage and identification plan including downtown identification signage at the entrances, consistent identification signage throughout the defined downtown area, and the addition of an information kiosk in key locations.
- Review signage regulations and update as needed.
- Recommend locations for permanent art/sculpture pieces in downtown.
- Continue and expand downtown flower and landscape program, including sidewalk containers and coordinating intersection and town square plantings.
ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: Strengthen and broaden downtown's economic base
- Compile market data and develop useable market profile information.
- Actively develop and coordinate a recruitment and retention plan for downtown businesses.
- Develop partnership with City, Chamber, and Economic Development Council (EDC) and local board of realtors for recruiting potential business contacts.
- Partner with college to assist small business owners in accessing free business counseling, support group and educational services.
- Develop financial incentives to encourage investment in the district.
- Research incentives for façade and signage improvement, incentives to attract specific needed businesses.
